Papers of the Blackwell family [manuscript], ca.1848-1937.

Correspondence, photographs, and miscellany of the interrelated Blackwell, Leavell, and Smith families. The bulk of the collection consists of family correspondence among the Blackwells and Leavells, 1895-1923, including letters of Louise and Nancy Blackwell who attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College, 1899-1905, letters of Joseph M. Blackwell at the U.s. Naval Academy, 1905-1911, letters of Edwin S. Blackwell, Jr., at the University of virginia, 1910-1912, and World War I letters of Edwin and John Davenport Blackwell. Also of interest are letters concerning Agnes Blackwell's career as an interior decorator in Bar Harbor, Maine.
